Reviews about KosherLat Valeria Duek 2016

Hi Valeria:

Bob and I (and our friends the Mandels) enjoyed touring with you.
Your extensive knowledge and enthusiasm of your dear Buenos Aires helped make our  trip more meaningful.  Bob and I did get to the magnificent Opera House.  We even heard part of a dress rehearsal.  This is a gem.

Best regards.
Bobbie Palter, MA USA

Dear Valeria

Now that we are safely back in London we write to express our thanks to you for all the assistance you gave us both before and during our visit.
We were delighted to have been able to return to Buenos Aires this December, after having had to cancel everything at very short notice some months back, and you were extremely helpful and understanding of our situation.
We thoroughly enjoyed your very informative Jewish tour of the city and the tango evening was a great success.  We don’t yet feel sufficiently qualified to tango the night away, but the lesson was good fun!
Thank you also for helping with restaurant bookings and other services which made our experience of your city so much easier.
With every good wish and many thanks

We had a wonderful day going around the city and learning all about Buenos Aires with you.  You were so helpful in getting us acquainted with the transportation and some of the different barrios.

Most of all, your warmth was very welcoming.  I guess it runs in the family.

We are back from our South America/Antarctica cruise. We had a wonderful time. The highlight of the trip was our private tour of Buenos Aires with Valeria Duek of Kosherlat.

Valeria was friendly, knowledgeable, well-connected and assisted by a couple of excellent drivers. They provided our airport transfers and a very special tour of both Jewish BA and most of the other major sites in the city. They were very responsive to all of our requests and a delight to be around. I highly recommend Valeria and her team.

Valeria's pricing is also quite reasonable.

Hello Valeria,

Hope that you and your family are all well. We had a wonderful time in Buenos Aires and wanted to thank you for enlightening us on the Jewish Heritage of Buenos Aires. You were very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Buenos Aires. We thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent with you and would also like to thank you for going over and above by sending us further information to our hotel.
We would highly recommend you to others.

All the best

Hello, Valeria,

Thank you for the tour of 'Jewish BA'. Visiting a city that is prominently Catholic, it was wonderful learning about our heritage. That isn't included in the BA standard tours. The synagogues we visited were beautiful, and learning about the Sephardic and Ashkenazi influences helped me see the rich Jewish Argentinian history. Your tour was a highlight of our trip.

Thank you! Nancy Barnett, USA

Kosherlat Reviews 2014

Valeria,

We want to thank you for a fabulous tour of the Jewish sites in Buenos Aires.

It added immensely to our trip and our understanding how the Jews of Argentina pursue their lives.

The neighborhood was very interesting, and the fact that so many people said hello to you added to the authenticity of the experience.

AMIA, in particular was very memorable, and helped us understand the bravery and fortitude of the community.

We highly recommend your tour.

Valeria:

We just want to thank you for the great tour when we were in Buenos Aires and look forward to returning at some future date.  Wishing you and your family a very Happy Passover.

Hi, Valeria,
We have been telling everyone about your excellent tour, which we enjoyed immensely, particularly as we were able to go inside so many shules and to visit so many Jewish parts of Buenos Aires. Your English was perfect and your knowledge outstanding. We were very impressed all round. Just a shame
about the bad weather, which we understand is continuing even up to today.
We would have no hesitation in recommending you to anyone visiting Buenos Aires in the future.

Kind regards,
Judy and Stanley Lester

Dear Valeria,

We can't thank you enough for everything you did for us. You showed us all the Jewish interest places and explained the history of each place. You also helped us find the grave of relatives and the streets they lived on. I felt I was with a friend that I knew for years. I also felt that you cared and went above and beyond any expectations we had. We certainly will pass your contact number to anyone we know going to Buenos Aires. I will also like to keep in touch with you.

Regards,

Hi Valeria,
We are still in the midst of our travels, currently in Costa Rica, and not as yet returned home, but happy to let you know that we enjoyed very much your tour of the "Jewish" Buenos Aires. It was very informative and entertaining. We also really appreciated your concern and calls when we thought we had lost our papers (left on board).
All in all, you helped to make our stay in Argentina a very pleasant one.
Kind Regards

Kosherlat - Reviews 2013

Valeria,

Thank you so much for your wonderful tour of Jewish Buenos Aires.  Your patience at the port was so very much appreciated - this was a most unfortunate beginning to our short stay in your beautiful city.  We enjoyed the sightseeing and your knowledge at each of the sites.  The Jewish museum was a pleasant surprise and the docent was very knowledgeable.  Our dinner and show at Tango Porteno was very enjoyable.  In just a few hours, we got a great history lesson and a taste of Buenos Aires.

Thanks again,

Dear Valeria
Now that we’ve settled back into the routine of our lives, we can look back and marvel at how much we were able to see and do in Buenos Aires and Patagonia in one short week. Roaming far beyond our comfort zone along the narrow ridged pathways of the Moreno Glacier, visiting the Teatro Colon and viewing the Broadway-worthy Tango Porteno, consuming far too much beef (The 1.5 kilo rib steak that Marty and I shared atAsian fue estupendo—as a meal and a conversation piece—thanks for directing us there! Even the kosher McDonald’s you dropped us off at was an experience.)  For us, the highlight of visiting Argentina was learning about and intersecting with its vibrant Jewish community. A great deal of the credit must go to you as our “official guide” and so much more.

Valeria, you’re such an intelligent, appealing woman— as a professional, a wife and mother, an engaged member of your community and your society, a proud daughter of the Jewish people whose family background speaks to the rich heritage of the Argentine Jews, their struggles and triumphs, their current concerns both local and global. From the moment you opened our tour with the simple but telling question, “What do you know about the history of the Jews in this country?”, we knew we were in the hands of a true teacher who understood how to gauge her presentation to the level of her audience, eagerly, expertly, and fluently. The friend who had given us your name after you accompanied his NewYork-based North Shore Hebrew Academy High School students on anexpressly Jewish tour of Buenos Aires, spoke of your skill in explaining the history and reality to these teens. With us world-savvy adults (or so we like to think), you knowledgeably and candidly responded to each question and concern we raised, whether of a political, social, or religious nature. Plus, we got a true sense of the daily life of the Argentine Jews—where they live and work and vacation, where they attend services, where they send their children to school. Standing right across from the site of the bombed Jewish Community Center (AMIA), you recognized one of the mothers of the victims who had gathered there on the monthly anniversary of the attack and introduced us to her. Standing inside the various shuls, you could comment with authority on the origins of their founders, their current religious denomination and practice, even their architectural styling. Standing at the remains of the Israeli Embassy decimated by the terrorist attack of 1992, you gave us the inside story of how the lessons learned from that tragedy were not enough to save AMIA. Your visible anguish and ours made it all highly immediate, highly personal….
Your role in our stay did not end with the tour. We appreciate your voluntary, pro-active efforts in our behalf. Thanks for e-mailing Chabad in Recoleta to expect us on Shabbos. We wish you and your mishpachah and the community peace and prosperity.

We took the Jewish Tour of Buenos Aires led by Valeria Duek in January 2013 and found it to be very interesting.  In addition to visiting the former site of the Israeli Embassy, the new AMIA Center and the beautiful Ashkenazi Synagogue, Valeria walked us through the Jewish neighborhood of Once -- even taking us into the local bagel store which smelled amazing!  More importantly, Valeria gave us insight into the culture of the Jewish people in Buenos Aires as well as her own experiences as a Jewish woman born, raised and living in Buenos Aires.  A great tour with a great guide - would highly recommend.

Valeria:
We arrived back in Memphis today.  We loved Mendoza and were also so happy we came back to Buenos Aires for three more days after going there.
We did most everything you suggested.  The Colon opera house is spectacular and theRecoleta cemetery is extremely interesting.
Your Jewish tour was one of our highlights.  We loved it and loved meeting you.  Thanks so much.

Kosherlat: Testimonials 2012

Hello Valeria,

We would be most pleased to share with others our wonderful experience
with your services!

And I know we are being repetitive, but Aminah and I cannot thank you
enough for ALL of your help with our recent visit to Buenos Aires,
Valeria!  From our initial e-mail inquiry and throughout, your
communication was always prompt, clear, and helpful.  Although we had
very limited time in Buenos Aires, you were willing to work with us to
optimize our visit.  And our tour with you was just wonderful:  your
depth and breath of knowledge are amazing; to our many, many questions
--especially given our non-Jewish background, you always answered
kindly, thoroughly, and patiently; the pace of your explanations and
commentaries was just right; your English is precise and impeccable; and
the itinerary you had put together was both efficient and instructive!
Most of all, we are grateful to you for your genuine interest in us and
in helping us understand not only the history of Jewish immigration to
Argentina but also contemporary Jewish life in Buenos Aires and in
Argentina.  You did not give us a scripted tour.  Instead, your
thoughtful insights and your kind and warm way allowed us to have a very
personal perspective on things.  At the same time, we also appreciated
and respected your sense of objectivity.  (As you recall, we have been
doing a little homework each day after our tour to reinforce what we
learned from you, and we could definitely attest to your very
even-handed and objective commentaries!)  And last but not least, you
went above and beyond the tour to give us very timely and helpful
suggestions about Buenos Aires in general, airport transfers,
restaurants, etc.. (Our lunch at La Cabrera last Friday was so much fun and so tasty --half way through which we already began to see a long
line being formed outside ..., and the round-trip airport transfers were
punctual, with both drivers being very polite and safe.)

We feel so fortunate to have had the privilege of seeing a unique and
very special slice of Buenos Aires with you.  You have made it possible
so that we will always think of this huge and complex city with warmth
and affection.

We will definitely want to share with our friends, family, and co-workers information about you and Kosherlat, and please do mention us as references to any of your potential visitors.

With our many, many thanks and with our warmest regards,

Phuong and Aminah

Kosherlat Testimonials 2012 - Suzie Karan, NY

"Hi, Valeria

Hope you had a nice Pesach! I just wanted to thank you again for the wonderful tour. You provided a fantastic overview of the city and the history - both Jewish and overall.

Just so you know -- we did end up catching the Boca game vs. Arsenal. It was a lot of fun -- we went with my brother-in-law's friend. We also caught a Tango show in Boedo and took a tour of Theatre Colon.

I will definitely recommend you to anyone we know who is visiting Buenos Aires. And if you are ever in our side of the world (probably not Rochester, NY but perhaps Niagara Falls?) -- feel free to get in touch!

Best, Suzie Karan"
